Big Bad Wolf & The Colored Eggs Game Knock Knock! Who there? BIg Bad Wolf What do you want? colored eggs What Color? color tag game fun rhyme question Gesture group Autism egg what who

OKAY...IT'S NOT A STORY OR SONG....IT'S A GAME!  buuuuut...it rhymes...and it's fun.

Need:  chairs or cones; color the egg cards different colors (although some can be the same; for older kids, color more advanced colors (i.e. maroon, etc)

This is usually a game of tag.  I am starting it as an in-class game and as the spring weather unfolds and the students get the rhythm and mechanics of the game, I will add the "tag" part.  At this point, when the students are supposed to "run", they will simply stand up.  I will introduce the "run" and "tag" part at a later date...or never.  ;-)

1. Students stand behind a line. (In class, they will sit in their chairs).  They choose a color (or a color card) and keep their color a secret from the SLP (Big Bad Wolf)

2. Teach the rhyme and their responses using picture visuals, speech, and gestures:

SLP:  "Knock Knock!"

Kids:  "Who's There?"

SLP:  "The Big Bad Wolf!"

Kids: "What Do You Want?"

SLP:  "Colored Eggs!"

Kids:  "What Color?"

3. The SLP (BBW) starts naming (with or w/o visuals depending on needs) colors (more than 1 child can have the same color).  If a child's name is called out, the child has to run from behind the line and out around a cone and back to base without being tagged (or in-class, the child has to stand up).  If the child is tagged, then he/she is the next BBW.

Modify as necessary....I have a feeling I will!
