How to Interrupt Politely Sometimes I want to talk to someone who is already talking. Talking when someone is busy is called interrupting. Interrupting can make people feel angry. What can I do instead of interrupting? I can try tapping them on the arm on shoulder 3 times. I can try walking over and saying “excuse me” or saying their name. After giving them a tap on the shoulder Saying Excuse Me and/or their name- if they are still talking then I have to wait until they are done. When I use those skills or wait for my turn to talk it makes others happy.
