I use this material on "Talk Like A Pirate" Day (Sept. 19th). I create a series of pirate activities that promote curriculum and motor development in an obstacle course. The students end the activities by cutting out a circle from this material. A teacher then pins their circle "award"  (or strings on a necklace as a medal) for a reward  of their accomplishment.

Some activities for Talk Like A Pirate Day:

Swab the Deck - sweep a small ball through a simple maze created with blocks or sticks. Walk the Plank - walk a balance beam and jump off end into a crash pad Shoot the Cannon - Place stickies on the wall with letters on the stickies. Students throw a ball to aim for a letter. The students can throw the ball at the letters in their name or target spelling words. Dig for Buried Treasure - Students dig in the sand for treasures such as small toys, pencils, beads, etc.

Talk Like a Pirate Day is a motivating day that makes learning fun.
