Practice comparing and contrasting with this domino set. There are 14 intended matches in the set, with hundreds more possibilities to make and explain semantic connections! Unlike regular dominoes, the goal of this game is to place a domino with another that is NOT the same and explain at least one similarity and one difference between the pair. This excerise encourages students to think about semantic relationships and practice using complete sentences to explain their reasoning. Although it is quite a few pages to print out, you can print two pages on one if you download as a PDF and open in Adobe. This also means you will have plenty of extras to send home for practice!

Listed are the intended matches: butterfly/bird, apple/banana, shorts/skirt, house/tent, train/plane, bowl/cup, scissors/knife, candle/fireplace, couch/bed, paintbrush/crayon, comb/brush, igloo/ice, police officer/fireman, flower/tree. Additional matches could include: living/non-living, found in the kitchen, edible/non-edible, etc.
