The Little Engine That Could Questions The Little Engine That Could Do you like the story about the Little Engine? What are some toys and treats on the train? This story was written a long time ago. What toys and food would you add to the train now? Why was it so important to get the toys and treats to the children on the other side of the mountain? Why did the little train stop as she was taking the toys to children on the other side of the mountain? What makes a train move fast? What kind of sound do you think each train engine would make? (loud bellow whistle choo-choo) Why did some of the trains not help the happy little train? Why did the little blue engine decide to help the happy little train? Do you think that saying the words "I think I can" helped the little blue engine? Have you ever pulled something that was so heavy up a hill? How do you think the little blue engine feels at the end of the story? Why? How do the toys feel?

Open-ended questions about the story, "The Little Engine That Could" by Watty Piper.
