Short Vowel & /sh/ Digraph: Say, Sort, Read, Match

  • Print and laminate page1 with WORDS containing short vowels and /sh/.
  • Print, laminate & cut up page2 with headings, articulation cues and PICTURES.

1) Hold up each picture card and ask student to say and sort it under the articulation headings from page 2.

2) Roll a dice labelled with with a, e, i, o, u and ? Student articulates short vowel on dice, e.g. "a". If "?" is rolled, student can choose to articulate any short vowel.

3) Student goes to WORD table, finds short vowel and reads any word in that column, e.g. "cash"

4) Student finds matching picutre card for the word they read and covers the word with the picture.

  • Continue taking turns until all word cards are covered with a picture card
